WEN’s Annual Event: Advocating for Sustainability in Challenging Times

WEN’s annual event, Advocating for Sustainability in Challenging Times, was a resounding success—bringing together community members, professionals, and advocates committed to advancing sustainability even amid today’s complex environmental challenges.

The event featured a dynamic panel moderated by Reza Moreno of Joon Collective, who guided a thoughtful conversation centered on equitable access to sustainable transportation and the broader role community-driven action plays in climate resilience.

Panelist Laurie McGinley contributed her expertise in human transformation and leadership, offering insight into how intentional presence and personal agency support meaningful change in sustainability work. Her perspectives on impact, mindset, and communication added depth to the discussion.

Panelist Kateri Routh of Great River Greening highlighted the importance of land and water stewardship, sharing how her nonprofit’s restoration efforts strengthen ecosystems and build long-term environmental resilience through community involvement.

Together, the panelists created an engaging, solutions-focused dialogue that left attendees feeling informed, inspired, and better equipped to advocate for sustainability in their own communities. The event underscored WEN’s ongoing commitment to fostering connection, education, and collective action in challenging times.
